SubTailor is a free website of subtitle tools. Each page does one job: convert a subtitle format, shift or sync the timing, repair broken characters, clean hearing-impaired notes, merge, split, or rewrap lines. You can use every tool without an account, on as many files as you need.
What you can do here
- Convert between SRT, WebVTT, ASS, SSA, SBV and plain text.
- Fix timing: shift subtitles by a fixed amount, sync drifting subtitles with two points, or change the frame rate.
- Fix and clean: turn garbled letters back into text and save as UTF-8, remove SDH notes and tags, repair overlaps and numbering.
- Merge and split: join CD1 and CD2, make bilingual subtitles, cut a file into parts.
- Format: rewrap lines to a character limit and check reading speed.
The home page lists every tool, and the guides explain common subtitle problems and how to fix them.
How your files are handled
The tools run in your web browser. When you add a subtitle file, it is read and processed on your own device, in a background worker of the page. It is not uploaded to our servers, and we never see its name or its content. The same goes for a video you open in the preview: it plays from your computer.
The page remembers the options you last used for each tool in your browser’s local storage, so you don’t have to set them again. It never stores your files there. The privacy policy has the details.
Who makes it
SubTailor is built and run by an independent development team that provides free utilities for everyone. It is not affiliated with any video player, streaming service or subtitle company named on the site.
The site is free. In the future it may show ads to cover its costs; ads will never be placed over the tool buttons, and the privacy policy will be updated before they start.
